well the credit cards taken a serious bashing recently.....getting everything for our first family camping "adventure" this May b/hol.

the last main thing to get is our sleeping bags......me and the OH have a couple of mummy bags that we used a few years ago...but we would really prefer the rectangular ones that can be zipped together (zips at the sides) but can also be used as single ones. As per usual I've spent ages trolling thru' pages of threads and looking at camping webs...but i'm going crossed eyed now...and sometimes the details arent very clear as to the exact spec?

I did notice some ones on an outwell site that looked ok ....anyone got any ?????

or have you got any other good brands that you know of.....

we will probably be camping from easter thru' to end Sept and would like them to be warm enough for all these seasons

Dont know if there is a Millets near you but they have a 'EUROHIKE Special' on at the moment where everything is reduced by 25%.  (Everything Eurohike that is)

Bought a couple of 'Mummy' Bags yesterday......if you get a left zip and a right zip then they can be zipped together....good quality aswell as far as I can see.

Vango do excellent bags...the Vango Astrals are square ended and come in two sizes, both of which can be zipped together down the centre. They have hoods, so you have to get a L/H + R/H bag. There are different weights as well. Hubby and I have two 350s and they`re great bags.

If you don`t want hoods then Vango do a similar bag without hood called the Orion.

Vango also make a variety of other quality bags for adults and kids, in all sorts of specs. My kids have a Vango Nitestar 350 (for the 9-year old) and a Vango Nitestar Midi 350 (for the 4-year old.) I think mummy bags are better for kids, as there`s less dead air space to warm up.

Shop around for prices, btw...there are often good discounts if you`re buying two or more sleeping bags.

I did see the outwell contours (350 & 450) on a couple of web sites - they seem to retail at about £40-£50 usually but they're selling them for about £25-£30. I just wondered if anyone has seen/or used these to get a UKCS feedback - which seems to be a fairly good way of finding out if something is good quality (or not!!!)

I also have spent the last couple of evenings trawling through websites looking at sleeping bags to use this BH weekend. I hate mummy bags as I find them too restrictive so have opted for a Coleman Hudson 450 which is a 4 season bag (about £30) and will hopefully keep my cold bones toasting warm!  I'm looking at a Vango Nitestar 350 for my 10 year old but am going to go out and look in camping shops at the weekend.  I did see some Vango Astral 350's (square ends) 2 for £40 at Outdoor Action if that helps though.
