will they soon be Illegal to carry after the recent spate of knifings?, the Media are suggesting that carrying a Knife without good reason will be outlawed?, I normaly carry a multi purpose knife as it has screwdrivers pliers and the like and comes in handy in an emergency anytime and anywhere not just camping
There have been posts on this before but if they are going to change the law we'll have to look at the exact wording of it.
I would guess that if you were going down the shops then it maybe wise to leave the knife/multitool at home, if you are camping I think you'd be fine.
Of course as an adult its fair to say that you would be discreet with it and wouldn't be brandishing it in public so again, maybe not legal but not really a problem.

You'll find that knives, where the blade folds into the handle, like a Leatherman or multitool, aren't illegal as long as the blade is shorter than three inches (7.62 cm).
However if anyone was to use a knife like this in a threatening way then it may become an offensive weapon.
As with any law it depends on how your lawyer presents your arguement.

------------- Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents. It was loaned to you by your children.
A blade under 3 inches folding into the handle is legal, UNLESS it needs a mechanism to close it.
I normally carry one of those cheap locking knives that you can buy at DIY shops. It probably gets used 50 times a day at work, but I do tend to keep it on the belt of my jeans.
Then I realised I had it on while queuing to go on the London Eye. When we went to be scanned, I held it out (closed of course) in my hand to declare it and you'd have thought world war 3 had broken out.
Lots of form filling for the MET, confiscation and a warning. Aparently, the sentence for carrying a lock knife is 5 years!
I've now bought another one, but opened it up and removed the locking plate. But now it hase a tendency to try to close when in use, like a penknife, so it's crap
I carry a small Swiss Army Knife attached to my car keys so that if i need to change a wheel i have it handy for cutting off the cable ties holding my wheel trims in place
