Hi everyone. We are buying some chairs and a table for out 1st caravan trip and we are unsure about which type is best. We were thinking of the canvas folding type but then someone recommended the plastic type that you have in the garden because they are light, can all stack ontop of each other and the table legs can be removed for storage.

Would appreciate ant opinions.

I would think the plastic garden ones would take up a lot of room in the car even when stacked and personally I don't find them that comfortable.

I'm a fan of the canvas folding chairs

We use a very lightweight chair from a company called Dulkdalk. You can also buy an extension to turn them into sun loungers. The chairs a very comfortable and you can sit in them all day and evening.Our table is white melamime and the legs are adjustable which is handy on sloping ground. the legs fold flat under the table. We got them from Barrons.

We use two Dulkdalk chairs and an aluminium slatted table but we also take four white plastic stacking patio chairs for in the awning. They are great when people come round and they are so light they stack together in the caravan during transit.

Canvas folding chairs for us too!  Much more comfy for sitting on.  Get decent sized ones with armrests (plus cupholder) and it's almost like being at home

We use Dukdalf chairs because they are light, un-bulky and comfortable even without adding cushions and the woven plastic fabric isn't affected by dampness like some fabrics are.  We also have a Lafuma chair, which is nearly as good.  Other makers produce very similar lightweight 'lookalike' chairs to the Dukdalf/Lafuma ones, but at lower prices.

We also have a cheap alu-slatted table, which is lovely and light and folds away to nothing - but it is not height adjustable and that really narks me.  Most camping chairs are not the right height to use as dining chairs - so it is very useful if your table has adjustable legs.  It also helps when you're on uneven ground.

Looking at the above posts then a deciding factor could be what you're staying ie Tent, Trailer Tent, Caravan etc as a tent may limit your carrying capacity.

Lat year we used folding canvas types but this year have got one of those picnic bench foldign table.  Gives you a working surface as well as somewhere to sit.  Ok have to use outside but not problem.  £18 tesco and we were impressed given how flimsy some of these can be

We started with folding canvas/aluminium chairs and bringing out the caravan table.  Now we have a slatted aluminium roll up table and proper aluminium chairs to sit at it on (the others were too low). 

  We still take the folding chairs along for picnics, but they are not comfy for relaxing on.   Once we start going away for longer, relaxing trips we will get something more comfy.   Once there is only the 2 of us going weight will not be such an issue.
