i use a holdall. I got mine from Tsco's and it easily holds 3 sets of clothes for 2 adults and 3 kids plus a couple of towels so ideal for short breaks / wekends away. It also had wheels with a handal that pulls out. £9.97 from Tescos.
We use one holdall for two of us, but it's one of those with separate zip on sections at each end, so clothes & towels go in main section, undies in one end section, and toiletries, camera, glasses etc in the other separate end section.
I use those blue bags you get from Ikea (1 each) and then put the different types of clothes in different plastic bags inside them. It is great because the blue bag can then squash and mould themselves to take up the minimum amount of space in the car
maas - we also use vacuum bags and foldaway crates. But last time, we were a bit too enthusiastic about the sucking, and ended up with a flat bag that was so rigid, it was like trying to wedge a sheet of MDF into the car !
You can get the pop up things in just about any pound shop, and best of all, they cost only a pound !!

We each have one of those supermarket bags from Lakeland for our clothes. They have flat bottoms so stand up and are easy to squash into the back of estate.
