Hi,
I have a RM212 3 way fridge which throws the trip switch on mains. I have disconnected the mains element and that stops the trip throwing. Does anyone know if this element is still available and what the resistence reading should be. I am now desperate as I am booked on the ferry to France this Friday. Any help would be appreciated.

If you know the wattage you may be able to work out the resistance.

Is the fridge 12 or 240 volts.

A 100 watt light bulb is about 40 ohms.

A 40 watt light bulb is about 100 ohms. - As the wattage goes up the resistance goes down. There is a formula but I can't remember what it is.

You may have an earth leakage problem.  If you are comfortable with electrics try this..  1)  Remove the earth link IN THE PLUG.    2) plug in the fridge - DO NOT TOUCH THE FRIDGE AS IT MAY BE LIVE.  If the trip still goes it is most likely to be a short circuit element. UNPLUG THE FRIDGE AND REMEMBER TO RE-CONNECT THE EARTH.   Keep kids out of the way when u try this.

Hi apxc15 - welcome to the forums

Have a look here. They haven't got an element listed but have other spares for your fridge type - might be worth a call to see if they can help.

Thanks for your replies. I have bought a universal element from a local dealer so fingers crossed that it solves my problem. All I have to do now is get the old element out which is rusted in.
