The grill plate thing - deffinitely not right.
Yes the recipe book is pants but it does give you some timings for cooking - ie if you want to cook pork chops, ignor the recipe but look at the time it takes to cook. Same with the roast chicken, you don't have to put the marinade on it but the timing is accurate.
My family thinks the roast chicken on the Cobb is really tasty: you can jazz it up with herbs etc but it is good just rubbed with olive oil and given a good sprinkling of salt and peper, roast under a preheated dome for 1.5 hours (8-10 heatbeads). Whilst it is roasting I cook potatoes in the moat in half a cup of water, a glug of olive oil and some salt and peper, I sprinkle some dried mixed herbs over these if I have any to hand. The potatoes take at least one hour to cook.
We eat a lot of chicken in this house, and on the Cobb the best chicken portion I have found to be thighs, I marinate these in a bbq sauce (either home made or from the supermarket) and cook under a preheated dome for 45 mins.
If you have a wok pan for your Cobb (which I don't yet) it seems the options are endless! Stir-frys, curry, and even stew and dumplings!
