Does anybody know where I can get my 3 in one Electrolux Fridge repaired?
The heaters working fine but the fridge is not chilling so I guess that it may need re-gassing! - Otherwise I am looking to purchase a second hand one in good condition model number RM4233 or RM4230. Please help as we are susposed to be going away next week!
I assume from the model number RM--- that it is an absorption unit and not a compressor type, have a look at the thermostat first, that would be my first point of call.
The absorbtion units have ammonia mix in them as a refrigerant and if this leaks you would know about it, ie smelling salts come to mind.
The older fridges need the van more level than the newer ones.
I think there is something about if it has sat unused for a long time something happens that can be fixed by taking the fridge out and turning it upside-down for a while.
I have read on google that rotation mixes the chemicals, and that it must be do slowly then left for 24 hours, then it must be rotated back in the reverse direction then left to stand for a further 2 hours minimum so I've done the first stage and took the opportunity to clean the back of rust and give it a lick of hammerite. We'll see what happens tomorrow!
Wey Hey cracked it!... Everything works fine now and I have saved £400 quid at least! - anyone that reads this should try it... worked for me! Well Happy now!
The main problem is when the unit is not used for a considerable period of time, the most common refrigerant is ammonia with which water is used to transport it around the system, these fluids tend to separate out if left for a period of time and need to be re-mixed, hence rotaing the fridge.
Something to bear in mind for the future, there is not a great deal that can go wrong with these units, the other areas are the heater element which could burn out and the thermostat become defective, both are available for about £20 each or so
