When the kids were younger we used this length of windbreak (or similar) to keep 'em from crawling all over hte campsite. With twins crawling and an older one just wandering off, we needed some barbed wire.

Maybe thats what the OP uses it for?

Why not replace the poles with the ones with the metal tops and bits over the spikes?

They're only £2 each (including VAT), from

http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/caravan/outdoor/Windbreaks.aspx

And I know they were on another thread not too long ago from another company, (which I was sure I'd saved to favourites but can't find it!!!), where they were only £1.75 per pole.

Better than broom handles coz they've got the metal protection on the tops and bottoms.

Might be cheaper than trying to replace such a h-u-g-e windbreak?21

Only 3 weeks to Heligan Woods and counting...every bl**dy one of 'em282828

WE need 14 meters of windbreak as our youngest 22 months has Down's Syndrome and is still crawling and children with Down's Syndrome just 'go' in open space, so we need to have a good secure area around our tent which is 7 1/2 meters long anyway, and also want to section off an area for cooking to keep him away from dangers.....14 meters perhaps is a bit excessive, but it was a guestimate anyway, 10 meters is probably more like it.

We've now bought some new poles anyway so problem solved!!

Aw that's great news Nat. Saved you a few bob replacing the poles eh?

We've been the victims of stupid so and so's swiping some of our poles out of our (cheapy) windbreaks over the years. Heaven knows what they do with 'em! Maybe javelin practice for liccle people?

Think you're very wise making your camp secure for your little'un. All kids that age can be like greyhounds out of a trap when they see a gap in the defences anyway! Just how to get they get so-o-o-o far in such a short space of time is what I've always wondered

Hope you can have a safe and great holiday now that you're all set.

With a 2yr old that has no fear and likes to leg it at the first oppertunity I sympathise with the need for a large windbreak.
We have an 8 pole (wanted 10 but the site we ordered from let us down) and used the gazebo with 2 side panels.
Made a fab little area and ment I didnt have to worry every second as to where houdini was at!

Hi all,

My 1st camping trip so we have been looking for cheap bits in case I dont like it and have found windbreaks for as little as £3.99 at my local B&M (4 pole) £5.99 for 5 pole and i think it was £9.99 for a 10 pole one.

Hope this helps
