We are thinking of getting these for our upcoming trip to France for my kids. Are they suitable of will the poor things freeze??

Might be better to go for separate air beds and then you can get sleeping bags that are more suited to the climate. If the air bed springs a leak you are stuck.

We've always used separate then the bags are available for using in other situations

Our 4 kids have always found these OK and have never woken up cold - although we have only been camping from May to end of August. Saying that I've just bought them all silk sleeping bag liners to go inside and as we're thinking of camping more next year (and from earlier in the year to Sept/Oct) was thinking of buying fleece liners - just to be sure.

The kids won`t freeze in them in France, but they`re a bit of a waste of money if you`re intending camping in anything but the hottest weather in the UK. Better off with a good brand of sleeping bag and either self inflating mats (ideal for kids) or airbeds.

We use a ready bed that we already had as an airbed for The Boy, with a proper sleeping bag on top and the fleece bag is a comfy layer to sleep on. If it is nice and warm he just uses the ready bed, but we plan for cold !

Absolutely hopeless if your mad and decide to camping in April.....our daughter froze.  In a warmer climate should imagine they would be alot better.

My boys have all got Spiderman Readybeds each, and they love them, and never complain of being cold, even when I think it has been a particularly cold night in the tent. If you are worried, take a couple of extra blankets with you. These readybeds are brill. We use them at home for sleep-overs and guests. I am sure your children will appreciate their own beds, as mine do, and they actually enjoy pumping them up with their own pumps too!

My daughter has one (from before we started camping), and she loves it. She pumps it herself etc, so she feels like she's helping out too.
As others have said, take an extra blanket, or put a (dry) towel on top, as that will keep them warm.

Now, if anyone has good ideas as to how to "black-out" the bedroom area of the inner tent, I'd love to know, as I don't like being woken up when the sun comes up!

Would think fine for France but inadequate for the UK ,We have 350 gsm bags ( much thicker than those 200 ones ) and we (in the middle sof summer!! ) have been very cold at night !! and that with liners too ,we have had below freezing temperatures in the middle of summer last year!

If you plan on camping in the UK ,then i would think about getting ones that would also be suitable for here ,possibly a 300gsm ,with a combo of fleece liner ,blankets for the uk ,or opened out as a quilt in France ?
