Help!!!

We recently had a problem with the converter/battery charger on our van. we found that when we took the van out this year we had to hook up the battery for the lights etc to work and that the electric hook up was only powering the sockets.

we took the converter out to see if this could be repaired, but it was punch welded and meant that there was no way in to it. We were advised to buy a battery charger and keep this in the van so we could charge when we are out or overnight which we did problem solved so I thought!!!!!

In a moment of tidy up and madness I threw the converter away thinking that we no longer needed it........ we have signed up for a replacement van and while sorting out the van for the part exchange we can no longer get any power to the lights etc. Short of going to the megga expense of replacing the converter, what else can we do to geet over this problem??? How thorough are they at checking when you take a part ex in? although I do not want to be deceteful I don't want any additional expense either.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, today is Sunday and the exchange for the new van is on Friday so I don't have much time to sort this dilemmma out.

Is there no way of getting the old convertor back?  If it was me I would come clean with the dealer.  I am sure they havee avan they can not sell that they could strip for you.  Failing that see if you can find a caravan breaker that has one.

You want to build a relationship with your dealer as you may need their help again in future.

No can't get it back unless I go through the council and find out where the ladfil site is!!! A bit extreme in this weather. I have got an electrician coming out this afternoon to have a look at it. Maybe he can wire something up for me, Fingers crossed!.

All sorted!!!

Sparky has just wired it up for us and all works just fine. what a relief that is.

I have looked at the caravan breakers on line, there seems to be quite a few around. I will definately bear them in mind should we need anything for the new van we collect on Friday.

Thanks Mark
