HIya
We got our gear a couple of years ago, we started off with a tent, one of those small cookers which come in a suitcase , set of camping pans, plastic plates and bowls from asda and took the cutlery from home.
We originally all had airbeds but as the kids seem unable to stay on them they just have roll mats now (and it doesn't seem to bother them) and we have an airbed.
Sleeping bags aren't totally necessary either, especially at this time of year. Our kids have got a bag each, but myself and my other half have decided to give up on the bags (he's quite large and struggles in his) and take our duvet instead. Don't forget the pillows!
I've got a big spreadsheet list drawn up in Excel of things, as we've been more and more then we've bought more stuff, we now have a fold up table and chairs, but to begin with we just sat on a picnic mat (The ones with waterproof backing).
We didn't have a lamp until this year either, just used torches but we splashed out on a rechargeable lantern which is excellent.

Hi there,

A cool box if poss a 12 volt one you can have in your car will keep milk and food safe and stop it going off during hot weather and even in not so hot weather it can be surprisingly warm in a tent. A lot of camp sites will freeze cool blocks for a small fee.

After taking my daughter camping many years ago aged about 12 months I would also suggest a travel cot/playpen. Crawlers and toddlers can move surprisingly fast out of a tent when they want to.

Don't follow me I'm lost too!

i think that there has been quite a few links on this subject before so it could be an idea to look up this subject in the search link.

Also this may be handy for giving you a few ideas about equipment http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=7

But, as a rule of thumb, take whatever you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible !!!!

Lol, tellme about it! We are now on the verge of a bigger car for all the gear! Have to agree about the lantern. We took a light for the EHU, but also a rechargable lamp for the 'pod'...and we didnt have to recharge it once all week!
