Blimey - I have never even thought about that question and I have no idea...will read the small print on my policy and watch this thread with interest......
I have never heard of insurance restrictions regarding relatively small camping type gas cylinders, but some ferries and road tunnels do not like them.
It'll probably be a one of those cases where so long as you don't make a claim you'll have no problems. When you do claim and they find out you had a gas bottle in the back they'll find some clause to shirk their responsibility to paying you claiming you should've notified them.
Now this isinteresting as we are off to the isle of wight soon & am worrying about the ferrie now? Maybe it would be best to take an empty gas bottle & swap it when we get to the campsite? will this be possible?
If you carry gas for business use in a vehicle you you have to display an appropiate sticker stating that compressed gas is being transported.
. As to carrying camping gaz I wouldn't think that this would be needed. Although if your involved in an accident should you inform the police, fire brigade and ambulance that there's gas being carried? If yes how do you inform them if your unconsious?? Now there's a question......
------------- I'm just a slave to the outdoor life!!!!!!!

You could try ringing the ferry company and asking them what their policy is, might put your mind at rest.
