Hi

Has anyone come across a charger that could do camera/camcorder/AA batteries from your car lighter socket, or a solar panel (would need to come with it). If you need to answer with anything technical, please assume that you are talking to a simpleton

Cheers

You can get them on eBay. Search for item no 290013147029.  Don't know how good they are though.

Hi folks. I use an inverter which plugs into lighter socket. This has a 3 pin socket on it the same as in the house. You then use the normal chargers. places like Maplin usually have them.

Sorry to be thick, Davie, but does that mean that I could then plug my 3 pin charger into the thing that comes out of the cig lighter and it would be exactly like plugging into the mains at home. I have to be careful because my shiny new camcorder is charged up while the battery is in place on the camcorder and I'd hate to get it wrong

Also does the car have to be on the move or the battery would go flat?

Told you I'd need it v. simple!!

Most camera shops sell AA chargers with car adaptors.

Halfords also sell an Energizer charger supplied with both car and mains adaptors for AA & AAA batteries.  I bought one a few weeks ago when they were on offer for £24.99 complete with 4 batteries, but today they were back up to £44.99

I'm not Davie but I have an inverter too. Yes, you can plug it into your cigarrette lighter and then plug anything wit a 3 point plug into it. We use it for pumping up the airbeds, butwe have the engine running when we do it.
We got ours from Makro. I'm afraid it was so long ago I can't remember how much it was but it can't have been too extortionate if my other half bought it!
No doubt if we go away for longer than a week we would too use it for charging up the camera whilst we were driving perhaps.

hi mr & mrs? Magoo.

Ive just done a quick search and found these on Amazon. They are not overly expensive and do get rid of the need to buy another charger for each set of batteries. I have used mine for a good few hours without the engine running but never left anything charging overnight so to be honest I dont know what the drain on the car battery would be like. I use mine for ....  Square camera batteries.  phones.  torch and AA's.   As I said, it beats a load of different chargers and becomes part of the car accessories and not just for camping.

Oh BTW..  Ive only just noticed.. your a podder too.!!!

That's excellent, thanks. I wanted to avoid lots of different bits of kit so it looks just the job!
