Just go to Somerfield and buy a £4.99 BBQ.(they do need to be assembled, easily tho) They're great. Cheap enough to throw away at the end of your holiday and as good to cook on as the more expensive ones. The really cheap throw away ones are rubbish, not enough coal and need wafting constantly with a bit of cardboard to keep them alight. DON'T go there.
Don't know how good they are but Asda are doing a BBQ thing for £2.22 which is probably simliar to the one you mention. You use it with proper charcoal etc, bigger than a disposable one. I bought one to have a go with as we've never had much luck with the dispy ones.
dont know if you have got you lava rocks yet but B&Q have them bought some for the B&Q at home a couple of weeks ago. not much use today as it is pouring down.
I bought three disposable barbis with legs from Lidl. Frankly they were rubbish, I tried one and it burned straght through the foil tray and collapsed on my table. Fortunately it is a metal table top and it only removed all the paint but it could have been much worse. I will be getting one of the portagle gas barbis from Go Outdoors which we saw in use at a site last weekend. It looks compact but large enough to cook for 4 people.
Biscuit tin, Bag of coals, lighter fluid, chicken wire / metal rack.= barbie !!!
Cheers

I was disappointed with the Wilkinson disposable BBQs this year - as mentioned above, they seemed to have less fuel in than usual, and a tiny strip of paper on top to light them with. I've gone back to the more expensive brands, eg Sainsburys. It's getting near the end of summer now (apparently) so the big supermarkets are starting to reduce things. Time to stock up for next year.
I may be wrong, but a notice at the C&CC site we stayed at a couple of weeks ago seemed to indicate that disposable BBQs were OK, but 'normal' ones (the kind where the fuel is open) were not permitted due to increased fire risk - anyone else come across this?

we have a portable gas bbq for camping, Woolies £45.00. It is plenty big enough to cook food for the five of us. We have only just replace the gas bottle ( small one )and we have had the bbq for 15 months. Until we recently got a bigger gas bbq for home, we used the camping one here as well.
We have used the disposable one a couple of times, but dont like them very much, takes to long to cook anything!
It must be the brand of disposable that makes a difference, I usually use Tesco ones and never had a problem with them, but have used other brands of disposable that havent been any good. I noticed T J Hughes are selling them for £1 at the moment.
I don't like disposable ones either used to think they were dead handy but like some of you have said you can get 'proper' barbies now cheap enough and save money in the long run and I can't bear the chemical smell of disposable ones, just returned from our latest trip and seem to be really noticing the whiff of them at the mo must be because I'm aware of it more, they spoil a good cooking smell that I love when camping. Ban them!!
