I have a old porta potti 265 that i was given some years ago, but i have never got around to using it camping.

I have now recently bought a tent and plan on going camping with my family for the first time and would like a bit of help how to use these toilets...

Do I need 2 types of Chemicals one for tank and one for the flush?

How much fluid do i use in each, do i mix it with water etc..

What order do i use the porta potti 265 in?

Sorry to sound daft, but im avirgin at this...

Thank in advance..

If you go to most good camping sites thay have really good facilities, and you don't have all the problems of a porta loo.

Hi i have that model i use aqua kem in mine green or blue for the bottom bottle has measures on side so you can meaure it that way and then the pink one for the flush top tank. You can also buy the toilet roll from the campshops this is better for porta potti  than the normal toilet roll disintergrates easier. Only point do remember to put top that you take of to empty the bottom tank in a safe place when emptying as i lost mine last trip and just cost me a fiver or a replacement

Steve are you sure it's a 265 and not a 165? Only reason I'm asking is coz I've had a quick look on the Thetford website and it doesn't have a 265 listed at all!

But....if it is the 165 you've got, I've already got a full set of the instructions etc. copied from my old booklet that I was gonna send off to another ukcs member a few months ago. I'd happily bung them in snail mail for you if you wanted?

The reason I've still got them is because, even though I hobbled straight upstairs to copy them byt the time I'd dashed back down to do a post to tell this chap they were ready for posting...some bright, well meaning, spark had already posted the web addy on here and he'd downloaded all he needed from there...

Course, if it is the 165....you could do that too! Just type in Thetford Porta Potti in your search engine doo dah and you'll find the info on there for everything but the 265

we have used a potty (for the children) in the past and emtied it in the loo in the morning.

In our opinion you really need a room in your tent for the porta potti, embarassment factor for kiddies.

Yes 100% positive it is a 265 and yes i do have an extra bedroom for use of it...hence why i bought a bigger tent than really needed..
