Has anyone any experience of using any of The Range chain of shops. I went in the one in Harlow today and have to say that the camping section was appalling. The shelves were untidy with items strewn everywhere, boxes open and items on display with no prices attached. I was trying to look at prices of lanterns, and in the end I just give up and walked out.
Well a few weeks ago we were going to buy a Wastemaster and went to the Southport branch, as last year they were cheaper than the local camping shop. The camping section was cronic. Not a lot of stuff, and not all in one place. They had no Wastemastes, Aquarolls etc. Last year they had two different sorts. If you went hunting you found some ordindary water containers.
Not the most organised of stores, I agree (and can be a nightmare if you are trying to get a wheelchair round it!!) but I have picked up useful bargains in some sections - never thought of trying them for camping stuff though, maybe I should go take a look........ or maybe not, I don't actually need anything so could wind up with extra stuff to store somewhere
I use the Exeter store from time to time. They seem to stock whatever they can get a good deal on, so just because they have had stuff in the past doesn't mean they will have it again. But if they do have it the price will be good, so get the bargains when you see them.
I also suspect that for them the summer season is winding down, so the camping and garden stuff will gradually wind down now.
The Cardiff store is usually in a mess. The camping section was well stocked though but suffered from missing prices and open boxes.
Did get a Campingaz Camp Kitchen Extra from there which was on offer. Saving about £10-00 on most prices I had seen.
Our local one is always a tip, but I am generally prepared to overlook that, and the slipshod service as the prices are good. However, last week we took back a chargeable lantern as the bulb kept fliskering, some sort of loose connection probably. They changed it with no problems then promptly put it bacl on the shelf for some other poor bu**er to buy! I pointed out their 'mistake' and the assistant looked at me as I was mad. So beware and always try things before you get to the campsite and keep your receipt. Oh, and dont buy the last rechatgeable lantern in Colchester branch!
Our local Range is at Norwich its fairly cheap and very tidy I cant say much about the quality of the camping stuff it looks ok but so far we seem to have bought half of the card crafting stuff in the shop.

Don't worry I've bought the best part of the stock in Southport.
Loads of stuff in our shop also but untidy as already mentioned. They just seem to unload the lorry with the forklift and just tip it all on the floor & then get a few items out on demo!! Bought a good camp kitchen their though for £8 less than the argos equiv. As mentioned craft sectio fantastic as we have none in clacton. Pet section good too. Was up their yesterday and they know do diving/snorkelling gear!! Pegasus wetsuits at £29.99!!!!! Fantastic value!!!!
