Ah just had alook on argos website ,was it one of the indoor sleeping bags ? in that case it dont matter so much ,thought you meant a proper sleeping bag !
Thanks Scatty, yes it was an 'indoor' sleeping bag, I always wash things like this as my son has really sensitive skin and gets rashes from new clothes, bedding etc if it isn't washed first.
Although often overlooked, Argos is probably the best place to look first if you want any outdoor gear - it's good and it's cheap. I've been lightweight camping for about thirty years and yet much of my gear comes from Argos sales.
Of the great stuff I have bought from Argos in the last two years are:
The "old style" Pro Action one-man tent for £9.99 in the clearance sale. These tents became legendary amongst the serious lightweighters on the uk.rec.walking newsgroup and are identical in every way to a branded tent by one of the specialist technical manufacturers which costs almost three hundred pounds.
A Pro-Action 40-litres airflow daypack with built in hydration system for £8.49, again in a sale. The hydration system alone would set you back between £20-£25 in an outdoor shop. I saw a similar daysack in a branch of a well-known specialist retailer for over one hundred pounds just last week.
I could go on all day about the lightweigh cooking set for £5.99 instead of £19.99 for the same thing in Millets etc. but I'm sure you can see where I am coming from.
After having to get hold of a cheap/big tent quick, my mates just bought one of the large pro-action tents (not sure if 9 or 12 berth). First outing is this weekend with a return trip to Scarborough after an aborted trip due to massive tent failure.

------------- It'll work out in the end!!!!
I didn't do it !! Nobody saw me do it !! You can't prove anything !!
Just bagged myself two of the 400gsm sleeping bags for £9.99 each. They weigh a tonne!! But I'm sure they'll be snuggly. As they are stock from the old Argos catalogue they are runnign out fast. I had to try several stores so if you want one be quick.
