Hi folks have tou seen a better deal on the new 2006 Cobb Premier http://www.essentialbbq.co.uk/product.php?category=Barbecues&productID=34396 copy and paste
at £114 plus P&P
Seen anything better appart from the deal on UKCS
------------- Life is too short So Live It to the Full
they have the cobb premier for £77.45 plus postage. Have no experience with them but they have been advertising Cobbs for a number of years, I keep looking but havent bought one yet. Who knows when my existing BBQ falls apart maybe I might just find the funds.
I've seen these mentioned on threads before, am I right in thinking they are like a posh bbq? Can't afford one for our first trip but might look again later in the year in the hope that they will be reduced? Would I be able to cook a joint of meat using a cob?

I have cooked a 1/2 leg of lamb on mine & it was really good. I doubt that there would be any problem cooking a much larger joint. It was a bit hit & miss the 1st couple of times that I used it but I think that was probably because I took the lid off too many times to check on how it was progressing. I have now bought a digital oven thermometer from ebay & it takes out all of the guesswork. Just set the temperature that you require the core of the meat to reach (e.g. 82 C for lamb), insrt the probe into the meat, put the lid on & an alarm sounds when the it is cooked.
I bought it in store (Brent Cross) for £89.95 and it came with the book and bag. The book isn't much help but I'm glad I've got the bag. They had both the new (Premier) Cobb and the old (plastic) Cobb on the shelf at the same price. When I queried it I don't think I manged to persuade the assistant that they were different she thought it was just the packaging. The website is showing the old one but whether that is what they would send I don't know.
There are loads of threads on here with info. about the Cobb. Be careful you are not buying an old stock one which is the type that BBQ warehouse are selling. Several people bought those and posted on here that they fell apart! I have the premier and I am really happy with it. Bought it through the UKCS offer. The person who works for Cobb, Graham is really helpful. I LOVE my Cobb and it's great carry case. So easy to use. No need to cook on blocks you can use it straight on the ground on campsites. You can even carry it when you are cooking if needs be. Others on this site say that you can use it to heat the tent as it's cooling down!

Many thanks for your advice, it's now on my wish list!
