That looks really good. Friends of ours insist on using 2 small stoves - the kind that screw onto the top of a canister - and it freaks me out. They have family sized pans balanced on these things, sitting on the floor, with kids running around. I just don't think its safe, but they don't want to have to house a big stove. That looks like just the thing for them. Christmas maybe....
I'm not sure if they're a new thing, but I've noticed Sunngas are knocking out a very similar one for around the £30-35 mark
As you can see they do use the cannisters that screw on from underneath the unit, but we really don't have the room for anything bigger and the weight issue is paramount for us.
We've been looking into this for a few weeks now and these little beauties weigh next to nothing compared to the likes of this
Which also use the big gas bottles. A cooker that uses the cannisters would appear to be just the ticket for us!
Not got one, but as I said I think they look like a great alternative to the big ones (we have one of those Campingaz ones btw), without the stability issues of the single burner ones. I have no problem with the screw in canisters, its just that when you are balancing a big pan on top they look a bit top heavy to me. The first stove has legs, and full pan supports. It looks a lot more stable than 2 small ones, but the technology isn't new so there shouldn't be any problems should there? The sunngas picture isn't showing, not for me anyway!
The one you can't see, the SunGass job, is identical to the Primus only its green and the legs don't look as stable, to be honest. On the other hand the SunnGas looks to have more wind protection around its burners. I've since found that the sunngas is also called the Sunflair Duo.
I can see it now! They look almost identical to me, do you think that amount of extra wind protection will make a lot of difference? As I said, we have the Campingaz one above, which has a lid and sides to form a windshield, and I'm not that impressed with it (the windshield). For weekends we use a suitcase single burner and a little concertina windshield, and that seems to be more effective to be honest. Decisions decisions!
Mmmmm. Your probably right about the wind protection. We tried to make a cuppa the other weekend on our little stove (the litttle blue single burner campingaz one) and it took so long I thought the gas had ran out. It turned out the wind was just blowing the heat away, so we put it behind the windbreak we use and voila! Steaming hot mugs of much needed morning coffee!
That settles it, we'll get the Primus because it looks more stable. Unless someone else comes up with the usual UKCS words of wisdom!
