Can't quite believe that 3 days before due to go on hols we check our trailer, which blows the electrics and we now have to sort alternative transport.  Autoelectrician thinks trailer was cause of part of problem but the dash display (speedo, rev counter, fuel/temp gauges) failing is just coincidence.  Trailer has blown light relay for indicators and because its a Honda we can't get parts off shelf so will take few days - we are supposed to go Sunday!

I am so p***d of I can't tell you.  Even though I think we can borrow a car for hol we still have to fix car when we get back which I'm told will be very expensive.  It has also put a shadow over our holiday that we are all looking forward to so much.  We won't have a trailer now (can't risk breaking someone elses vehicle!) and we won't have the roof box we were planning on so will really have to scale down what we take.  We might take hubbys van but then we have to pay for an extra vehicle for 2 weeks.

Sorry to witter on - just needed to get this all off my chest!

It seems to be the season for it. I noticed water coming from my Maverick the other day, one new water pump later, at least I managed to fit it myself.

I feel for you .

For the trailer you could always buy a cheap trailer lighting board, don't think they are that expensive, that will bypass the trailer electrics and at least make things a litte easier.

I assume its not as simple a job as just replacing fuses......difficult to envisage the trailer doing that much damage, the most I thought it could do is short circuit and pop a fuse or two, thats what they are there for.

Anyway chinup and enjoy what you can of your hols....and hope the trailer light board may help

Andy

Thanks guys, nice to know not alone - although not wishing probs on you!

Wilkins76, that happened to our driver window couple of months ago, think our car is a money-pit.

Mike, thanks for the sympathy - my husband has been like a bear with a sore head but managed to remind him we have got a couple of weeks to forget all about these domestic dramas!

Andy, we checked fuses and they are all sound.  We are not too sure about the wiring on the tow bar itself but bit of moot point anyway as whatever the cause we can't get parts til next week!

Shaz sorry to hear about your expense but you are absolutely right -  have great hols and deal with it when you get back- where are you off to?
