Having extolled the virtues of the Coleman Double Comfort airbed, my (almost) year old one has developed a leak. It is not a puncture or faulty valve but a weakness in a seam on the top flock surface where one chamber meets the other. Not used excessively, two weeks last August and 3 nights last week, when suddenly the fault occurred.

Am trying to get redress (purchased from Outdoor Megastore on 8th August 2005) particularly as it carries a two year guarantee.

Have managed to carry out a temporay repair, as i am off to Cornwall for two weeks tomorrow, so just hope it holds.

Will try and get OM to send me a replacement down to Cornwall.

Anyone had similar problems and a successful outcome?

We had a fault with one of our single Coleman Comfort Airbeds. As you say, it comes with a 2 year guarantee so I took it back to Go Outdoors, they tested it, agreed it was faulty and happily exchanged it for another one....no problems.

They really are the best amost comfortable airbeds we've ever used and (fingers crossed) that's to only time we've had a problem.

Hi,

We had our first venture into camping last week, taking these airbeds. They're brilliant and I'm certain they made our trip very comfortable. Well worth paying the extra for,

Teresa

Sorry everyone I disagree with the comfort thing. After reading untold posts saying how these are the best ever etc etc I bought one - quite disappointed.

Compared to my old one (approx 5 years old cheapie from Argos or similar), the Coleman bed is smaller and despite my best efforts just isn't more comfy. The dual chambers which supposedly allow different levels of air to be put in do not stop the whole thing from moving when one or the other partner moves - one of the reasons I bought it.

It's not bad, just isn't as great as I had hoped - if you are happy with your old one then I'd think carefully about getting one of these, if you are not (and the size isn't an issue) then by all means try. I

I am sure it suits many on this forum perfectly, just not me :-(

We have had one for a couple of months, used it twice and the seam has failed on the top where it meets one of the circular spring type things. Seam has failed causing a row of tiny pinholes along failure point. I done a temp repair to get us through hols with some puncture glue but could not use patch due to location. Have emailed coleman several times & they ain't even bothered to reply.

Will not be buying a coleman product again, ever!!

Why did you contact Coleman ? in all honesty its not their concern ,you just take it back to the shop you got it from and either ask for your money abck or get  a replacement !

That could be difficult! I doubt there are many campers without any Colman products in their equipment

This sounds pretty well the same fault as mine. Anyway, all credit too a very helpful woman called Kath at Outdoor Megastore who sorted me a replacement and sent it down to the campsite in Cornwall where we were staying (the repair didn't work, probably for the same reasons littleimp gave, which meant a couple of very uncomfortable nights!).

weve been in correspondance with coleman over a faulty camping gaz double airbed ,it sprang leaks from the very thin material where the bottom is welded to the internal uprights ,a design or manufacturing fault in my eyes.
at first all they said was return it to the place we bought it from but chucking another £7 postage away wasent my idea of service (we bought it online).
we sent pictures of the splits but still they refused to send a replacement direct from coleman ,remember they wernt holes made by us but splits apearing in places that dont touch the floor.
suddenly a month later we had an email offering us a replacement direct from coleman ,my veiw about this sudden turn around is that other mattresses are turning up with identicle faults .
get intouch with them if your supplier gets uppity.]
the really strange thing is after fixing the splits we had 2 very heavy tires on the mattress in the garden for a week and the mattress stayed up ,after removing them and standing the mattress on its end to wash the bottom low and behold another split appeared
i suspect its heat related ,it was fine in the autumn last year but not in the summer.i would recomend not trusting your repair we repaired ours only to see another appear on testing it ending up with 4 which prompted my contacting coleman direct.
