A little tip - if you are planning to camp in cold weather opt for propane rather than butane. Boutane dosent function well at less than 2 degrees but propane will perform at -30 degrees (not that Ive tried camping in arctic weather

Hi all,I bought one of these whilst on holiday and to be honest was quite disapointed with the grill, the wire mesh does not heat up all the way across so ultimatly the toast only gets brown along one side and I have to keep turning it,I just assumed that as it was cheap it wasnt going to make perfect toast but after reading this thread I am wondering wether I have a faulty one ?I have kept the packaging and receipt so I should be able to take it back if necessary, can someone who has made toast with this let me know their experience...thanks in advance

Same here I have to turn the toast around to get a good spread of brownness. But You can boil the kettle on top of the grilll opening whist making toast so that saves a bit of gas. Are you using CampinGaz or other fuel?
Hi John ,yes Im using a 907, like you I have noticed I can boil a kettle on top,I dont get it ,the mesh of the grill should get hot but dosent change colour at all almost as if it has been fixed at the wrong angle,to be honest I only bought it for the grill as my old stove was much more controllable on the rings..even though its almost 40 years old..lol..so really am dissapointed that the grill is so bad, maybe I should phone the no on the box and have a word about it,Im just sooo lazy...would rather post on here..now what does that say about me..idle or what..
ok got this sorted -changed regulator to an alternative gas for 12 quid as opposed to the ridiculous deposit for a campinggas cylinder. It will do the trick for me - brew and toast and the like. For thirty quid I did not expect an Aga range and I rely on Aldi to stock quality stuff, which they have no problem supporting if you have a problem. Off to silverstone for the british GP this weekend so should give it a good try out. Ill post back if any probs.
Thanks for your replies - if anyone struggles getting gas in the FY postcode try the baloon gas place on Cornford road - dead helpful and rock bottom cheap.
I bought one of these today, can somebody please point me in the direction of the correct gas cylinder I need, as cheap as possible please!
Thanks
As said above a 907 will fit straight on with regulator supplied..as for getting one cheap, to refill is around about £18, and to buy a new cylinder is around £44 so get an empty 907 from a friend or freecycle or even the tip if they are still doing it!
Blimey, £62 for the cylinder and gas, wish I'd known that before I bought the stove! Mind you it does come with a 30 day money back guarantee. Need loads of other stuff and could do without that expense really. How long would that last then? I know it depends what you use it for but for average use with a stove? Could you use that one with a tent heater as well then?

id swap the regulator for a calor or alternative - if you have a morrisons store nearby they do the 4.5kg bottle - i found a local alternative gas co who gave me the bottle for no deposit just had to buy their regulator for 11 quid. the regulator it comes with only fits 904/907 etc so its an expensive set up
I think the chap who had a problem getting his local tip to 'donate' a Camping Gaz cylinder to him should try another tip.
I would never use a cylinder I'd got from the tip... you never know who's 'fiddled' with it. However, exchanging it for a full one at your local retailer ensures you get a 'pukka' one full of good gas.
