Started camping last year, brought a mummy style sleeping bag without any research. Considering I move around alot I'm finding this style doesn't offer a lot of leg room. Anybody know of where I can get the biggest envelope style sleeping bag (without having to zip two together)?
I bought a Khyam one last year, and it's huge. Can't remember the model though, sorry! It was purchased from our local caming place, not online but you should be able to track one down.
This reminds me of a conversation I had at the weekend whilst looking at sleeping bags with my son and his disabled step brother who I posted about a couple of days ago. They were both impressed with an army style mummy sleeping bag - I pointed out that I hated sleeping bags as I hate having my legs squashed together when Chris piped up "I love sleeping bags - I've only got one leg theyre great". Bless his little cottons - all three of us fell about laughing once he reaslied what he had said!
A 2nd recommendation for the Vango Astral 350 XL here - my OH is a broad fella (in both mind and body....) and found mummy bags too restrictive, but these bags are square footed 110cm wide all the way down but still have the drawstring hood which is great for cutting down draughts. I liked his Astral so much I have one too now - zip em together and we have a double bag the size of Alaska!!
I hated the thought of not being able to move around a bit in my sleeping bag, so I have one from Argos it cost £25 it's a Pro-action ,it has a square bottom and a hood top, it is really warm (I have camped in October and been fine) the only thing is it doesn't pack down very small.
the Astral 350XL is just great, big enough to roll around with out getting wrapped up and warm on a cold night, I will admit to mostly using it during the summer unzipped to start of with then as the temp drops I zip it up. The pull hood holds my pillow in place as well, bonus!.
OH has the 250 and both will jam into a Gelert compression sacks for transport, then back into ther own bags for storage at home.
