Used E-Bay and got a Tevion dual screen system, the ones that can attach to headrestraints. Never heard of Tevion, but the kit is certainly not cheap and nasty, £180. Powers from cigar lighter socket and mains. Kept two kids quiet for 560 miles last week.
Whatever you get, you probably wont regret it.
Argos does an Acoustic Solutions one for £65. Hubby's just ordered one from Amazon for £99 which you can use DivX's on (whatever they are). Are DVD players okay to use on campsite electrics?? - we will be having electric hook-up for first time at next camping trip. Don't want to blow our new toy up (DVD player - not anything else!!)Any advice?
We have a 10amp supply to our van and have had no problems with fuses blowing (touch wood). I was told that as long as appliances are under 1000watts they should be fine. We also only use one thing at a time, to be on the safe side, but as you're in a tent I'm assuming that most of your things (kettle etc) are used with gas stove or bbq.
I have returned the last 2 'in car' systems I bought from Argos (the ones with a player + screens you attach to the headrests - Goodmans and Wharfdale) - They were useless, couldn't get a film to work for more than 10 mins without it jumping and stalling every time we went over a bump (and this was on the motorway, not A roads). I've swapped to handhelds (Hitachi), they work perfectly, and with the battery pack as a special treat the children can take them to bed occasionally.
My cousin also had to replace his in car set-up, so it's not just me. I think that unless you want to splash out on a professionally installed in-car system the handhelds (if they've got 'anti shock') are much more reliable and useful.
cheers for that dogbert, ive just reserved a pair at my local argos!! I was going to buy the twin screen ones, but this is better cos they can watch different films!! they have half price carry bags too!
