try leaving it for 12 hours and test it on a car with a dead battery, can you not return it?

If you can take it to a local freindly garage, they could put a tester on it to check its capasity and charge holding reading, after you have charged it first of course.  kiev

The item description says

Battery condition and charge level indicator.

Is that what the button under the meter is for, so the meter shows the state of battery charge?

If it is, you might observe a difference in the reading when the mains charger is plugged into the unit...?

Just guessing here mind you!

Hi Natasha, I have one very similar to this and if the unit has a good charge already then the red neon light won't show when trying to charge it. There is a test button to see how much of a charge is in the battery. When it is accepting a charge the red neon light will show.

Hi Mick,  I suspect Natasha is using it for powering lights, blowing up airbeds etc and not actually for starting a car.

it wont power your fridge for long, these are designed for short bursts eg. boosting the battery for starting from flat or for emergency lighter products eg flashing light or tyre pump short periods only, repeatedly using for fridge or long term lighter products will damage the cells

thats why it`s called booster pack, only know this as i`v broke 2 already this way, easier getting a leisure battery they`ll last longer as they are designed to be drained in such a way, and are about the same price.

Do you know where would be the best place to get one?

Just seen one in halfords for £60, are there any cheaper do you know?

Can't be an on line shop as delivery would take too long

From what I've picked up on here - even a leisure battery won't last very long powering a fridge constantly - depending on the size of the battery I think you'll be lucky if you can get one night out of it (but I may be talking rubbish of course!).

an 85Ahr leisure will power a small minicooler type fridge for about 12Hrs, so not very long. I know because that was my idea with my TT, even the good boosters only have a 20Ahr battery, so you would only get around 4-6 hrs with a fridge.

Having said that, for powering a couple of 12V flourecents thay are ace

In that case id just use the cig lighter for blowing up beds etc....and either a EHU, or rechargable lanterns for the lights. I think youd struggle with any kind of battery to run a fridge for a week or more.
