Hi Basilbrush
we bought a 800w halogen heater last year from www.Amazon.co.uk for around £9 as it was on special offer, we have a motor van and it heats it up a treat, and we don't have to sit right in front of it, in fact we had to turn it off as we got too hot. I actually like the bright light that the heater gives off as it saves putting any other lights on in the van. if you are quick Amazon have got a bigger version on offer at the moment with 4 heat settings, ranging from 800w using one bar, to 1800w if you put all four bars on. and it is oscillating, it also has a remote control, briliant I would think if you were tucked up in bed and want to switch the heater on or off! it is on offer with 50% off at £11.49, also with amazon you get free p+p if you spend £15.00 or more, I find it very easy to make up an order to £15 as they sell guide books and maps etc, ours arrived in a couple of days, I have found them a really good company, and when I had a problem with a tv I bought from them they sorted it out really quickly without question. I do not have any comnnection with them, I have just found them to be good. Hope this helps.
I nearly forgot, the model on offer is the Igenix 1800w halogen heater, if you use their search facility it is the easiest way to find it.
