Have you considered the camping friendly option of Solar power.

You already have a kipper Smh582003 which is still running. The mention of alternatives merely helps anyone reading this old but still available thread. As I am sure you know gens on campsites are either now banned or have the use curtailed. Solar on the other hand. Quiet, clean and in use on most THS, rallies, and non EHU sites. So if anyone is looking for information on the Kippor v Honda they now also have another option. I am also sure that they will make their own choice.

That assumes that the solar panel has an infinite life.......

Not a lot to go wrong, will probably out last me
Unlike the genny with a pull cord start that I was attempting to start on a canal bank and ended up in the canal, as I did when I had to retrieve it. Some things are best forgotten

You should have not stood so close to the bank.
Where I store my caravan, they had a major fire with 40 caravans up in smoke. The fire brigade believe it was the solar panel being used, as they had been to a few boats that had caught fire due to battery overheating. And yes they had regulators on them.
Most use the solars when van in use. But I I am not going down the line of horror stories, Enough to say that gennys do not have a clean record. Anyone thinking of a power source should go on a fact finding mission before paying out their money.
