Hello

I have a couple of camping trips planned for September and am thinking about getting a Black Cat heater (my wife feels the cold!). However I am concerned that using this heater or any other will lead to significant amounts of condensation within the tent (Vango Diablo 600).

If you have used this heater or others, have you found this to be a problem?

Thanks

Used mine for long periods this last weekend as we have a nipper and we had no real problems with condensation. We close the vents on the sleeping pods but leave open 2 other vents over the windows, you can't go wrong with one of these heaters, I was seriously impressed.

I have never noticed any condensation when using the Black Cat Heater in my Weathermaster, but this tent does have excellent ventilation, does the Diablo have plenty of vents?  Come to think about it, have used it in awnings with not so good ventilation and there wasn't any more condensation than usual.

Hi, as you suspect, gas heaters do give off some moisture, so there is potential for condensation. However, if you have sufficient ventilation for removal of fumes, the chances are you'll be ok. Haven't used a gas heater in a tent like yours, so can't advise on that angle.

Thanks very much for your quick responses. The Diablo 600 does have a few vents so I will make sure I use them. I will give the Black Cat a go then.....it may mean I don't have pack the usual full dozen blankets for the wife and kids!

I would still take the full dozen blankets if I were you, remember you won't be leaving the heater on all night and thats when you'll need the blankets the most.

Sorry I know you know that.

I suppose you're right about the blankets. I was just hopeful of freeing up some room in the car. Every time we go camping we seem to have more gear than before and last time the boys were sat in their car seats surrounded by blankets, pillows and sleeping bags because the boot was full with a Diablo 600, stove, tables, chairs and other paraphernalia. I also spend most of Sunday morning trying to cram it all back in!

This prompted me to get a roofbox for the next trip, but I've also bought a portable BBQ, a windbreak and now potentially a heater since then so it will continue to be a squeeze.

Next stop is a trailer I suppose but I am not in that place yet!

We've never had any problems with condensation when we've used our Black Cat in our Khyam XL. They are very good heaters - wouldn't be without it.
