We need to buy 5 sleeping bags, preferable 500g ones can anyone advise me of the best place to buy on line or in the north east.  Tryin to curb spending so lookin for a bargin (i live in hope)

The five we have are from argos and they are going back tomorow, at £30 each we used them on the first night and all the zipps jammed or the stitching gave way so a bit reluctant to buy more

Try Miletts. they have their half price sale on in Birmingham. I picked up 3 Vango Asra Super 350. They are large rectangular bags that were marked up at £40 reduced to £19.99 each.

Ignore the gram rating (500g) and look at the season and comfort rating instead. Bags are rated for seasons (2 season = late spring, summer early autumn and 3 season full spring, summer and autumn). The comfort rating shows what an 'average' person will be comfortable at (ie +5c) but will also show a low temperature rating (ie 0c) which is where the comfort will be minimal. This is not an exact science but gives an indication. Good names (Vango etc) will give all this info. Worth going for a bag rated below what you think the minimum temperature will be - you can always open it up to get a bit cooler but it's difficult to get warmer.

United British Caravans at Gosforth North East have coleman singles for £10 and doubles at around £20 they are great bought the Pacific double as usually take a 13 tog quilt but noticed I was waking up cold during the night used it last weekend absolute bliss!Oh and they dont make you hot (overheated) either you know if you are lucky enough to wake up in the morning and the sun is shining in your tent

Hi Carole

Have a look at Don Valley Sports in Doncaster, Kevin and john are very helpfull and will advise you to your needs. I ordered a Colmans Hudson 450 on there advice that was on a friday and it was delivered on the Monday and went camping last w/e and i was as snug as a bug in a rug
