Do I go for the coleman thing with 2 chambers, camp beds (assume they only come in singles?), or self inflating mats? We bought a cheap double air bed and it was awful!

We had a double airbed and the OH thought he was funny by bouncing on his side and throwing me in the air! Actually, it was quite funny but have had many a sleepless night rolling into each other etc. So we've now got two singles to push together, Colemans which come highly recommended, and I'm looking forward to more than 3 hours alcohol induced sleep a night!

Hi Braggfan, we to had one of them cheap airbeds and it didn't help my back at all. On the recommendation of the members here we to purchased a Coleman Comfort Double Airbed, what a difference. Not only do they stay inflated they are very comfortable and ensure a very good nights sleep. My back no longers hurts when I awake.

Go straight to Coleman comfort double for £23! I learned the hard way and went through 3 cheap ones first

I guess all these people can't be wrong that rave about the coleman, it's now on my (increasingly longer) list of things to buy. Thanks everyone

Coleman.  Used ours for the first timed this weekend and loved it.  Had aluminium folding beds before this which are fine.  I like the fact that you can store things underneath but found that I needed to have quilt or self inflating mattress on top of it and I am trying to downsize equipment as I have a little car.  Used a fitted brushed cotton sheet on top and picnic blanket underneath.  Very cosy.

To add to the colmean comfort debate, we bought two singles, one was fine the other just kept deflating - took it back for a refund! Also wouldn't use them again as they seemed very soft at the sides and we kept rolling off them in the night. We're thinking of investing in good self-inflating mats for next year.

Hi - we bought a double height queen size airbed from costco. It's so fab , 3 other mates now have one too.

It's self infaltable and takes approx 2 minutes. My fella now wakes up more rested each day, rather than that increasingly haunted look he once had, after a few days camping !

I know all about that haunted look (and the rapidly shortening temper to match!)

You can't go wrong with the Coleman Comfort Double. Makes for a very good night's sleep.

we have a really old double air bed, its one of those rubbery ones.... red on one side and blue on the other. the first time we slept on it i found it uncomfortable and had backache in the morning, but we hadnt pumped it up enough.... the second night we pumped it up so it was really firm and it was soooo comfy!

We have an old red/blue one too. Once had an even older one which I spent ages repairing but on the way to Devon it disappeared from the roof rack and we had to buy a new one after all. Did anyone ever find an airbed in a field off the M5?
