Hi everyone

We want to get a fan heater for October camping.  Can we get any old fan heater from argos or are there any particular features we should look for?  We prefer the idea of a fan heater rather than gas as it will reduce condensation rather than create it, plus gas seems a bit scary inside the tent.

Thanks!

Hi mully
the cheap thermostatically controlled fan heaters do the job, but the noise of the fan can seem deafening just as you are drifting off and it switches on. This weekend I tried a convector heater for the first time at night and it was excellent, quiet in operation with just a slight click on and off, 10/10 in the comfort stakes.

The slightly larger upright type fan heaters tend to be quieter. We use one and never notice the noise at night.

We use a Halogen heater, you not only get the heat (doesn't dry the air) but gives a lovely warm glow. Makes you feel nice and snug.

Our fan heater is from Homebase and cost aprox £10. It is 2kw, has 2 heat settings and is very quiet. It can also be used as a fan in the Summer.

good, I was starting to think I was the only one that had thought of it. Many come with thermostats now so once you have found a setting that suits you you can just leave it alone. Dont know what effect it would have on condensation though

Hi Pjnm

How big are the oil heaters?  I've only seen really big ones. (Oo-er I hear you all say!)

Hi Michelle, sorry I`ve not replied sooner but my computer bust.

Some of these oil heaters are quite small but are probably bigger than most other types of heater. the one in the link above(thanks) is 36cm x 40cm x 14cm.

PS dont be so rude Ha Ha !
