I've seen a blue table that folds up very compact.  It has integral benches each side like 4 small bench seats.  Argos sell it and Ebay is littered with them but i havent seen any in the shops. Does anyone know if they are any good.  I thought perhaps as they are one single unit they might be more stable once seated (us having small children an' all)  Advise please.

We got one for peanuts in a French hypermarket years ago but have used it only about four times because a) nobody can put it up without pinching a finger; b) it's really uncomfortable; c) nobody can fold it up without pinching a finger...

Hi

We've got the sort that has a seat at each corner, it's very stable, used it a couple of years, it came from Aldi or Lidl so don't know where you could get them from now, but it's better than the ones with bench either side.

I'm afraid I'm in the 'they're crap' camp, we've only used ours once and I classify it as downright dangerous, unstable, and collapsed twice once hurting one of my children. I'm going to buy the aluminium one with standalone benches.

Sorry - I agree - CRAP. They collapse just looking at them.

Get seperate fold up chairs (that fold into a tube rather than flat, handier) and a nice sturdy table, preferably with adjustable legs - this has been invaluable while camping as I haven't camped on a flat pitch in years!!

Get a slatted aluminium table, ours is a Suncamp, easy to clean, packs up compact and nice and light.

Now have an aluminium slatted table and 4 chairs.

I'm quite surprised by all the negative feedback cos we've got the cheapy one from Argos and it's been fine. 2 adults and 2 kids sat together...fine. just have to make sure all the safety bits are in place as instructed.

I agree, we got one from Millets, pretty much the same as the Argos one I believe, £15 IIRC.

It is flimsy, agreed, but as long as you assemble it carefully, and lock all the locking out safety features, and use the metal pins it is fine - I see no way in which it could collapse of it's own accord, having weight on it would make it more secure if anything, as you are anchoring it down.

We're always careful when we use ours, and I fully expect it to serve us for a good few years yet, and for £15, that will do me nicely.

We got one from Tesco £17 at the beginning of the summer and were surprised how useful it's been.  We are two 10 year olds and 2 (not the smallest) adults.  It's been used for camping and in the garden as an extra table and seating provision for BBQs.  My OH was not sure about how strong it would be but has been very surprised at how handy it's been.  OK, the seats are not the biggest in the world but it's definitely good for packing to go away camping and handy enought to be used for eating our meals when away.  The kids also use it for a games table, etc.

We were actually expecting it to just last this summer and would have been happy if it had but it will be going away with us next year as well.

They are ok as long as none of the party is a hippopottapig.  I am now as big as a house so we have a aluminium one.  It  weighs a lot though and all the same things about pinched fingers when putting up still apply.  I would try one of the ones with separate benches that live inside the table when folded, they look the very thing.

Hi

Do you know where you can buy one of these tables with the benches that fold up and store under the table. We saw one on our last holiday in someones tent and they looked fantastic, but when I asked the owner where he had got it from, he had bought it at a car boot!
