We are going camping in our brand new outdoor revolution senic 5.0i this coming weekend. I think that we are going to need a heater of some sort but we dont have a EHU. I have been looking at the black cat but I am unsure if this would be good enough to heat the tent. Or would I be better going for something like the sunncamp parabolic heater?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

No - EHU is a slippery slope, you'll end up taking TVs and electric kettles in no time

I have thought about EHUs and will probably get one eventually but I want to put it of as long as possible. I have a 14 year old son who would insist on bringing TV, play station, dvd player, laptops etc etc etc. I want to spend quality time with him while its still cool to spend time with mum.

We have EHU, but always use the Black Cat as it heats the Weathermaster really well and quickly, also we are not always trying to work out if we can use this electric appliance or that one with the often limited amperage allowance in many camp sites. Another reason is that you may not always want to camp with EHU, on weekend camps for example.

Each 500g cartridge lasts about 4 to 5 hours in the Black Cat.

We use a black cat when we're camping without EHU and a 400W Halogen heater when camping with EHU. Our tent is a reasonable size and the Black Cat easily warms it up. We leave the front of the tent open when we use it so we've got ventilation ( CO gas is always a risk when using heaters like this) - and it still provides enough heat, even in November!

The black cat works perfectly for our hartford XXL and soon warms up a big space.

We have the 2kw parabolic heater becuase we have a gas bottle anyway for cooking, so it made sense to keep the number of kinds of gas supplies we need to a minumum. And it don't arf kick out some heat.....very impessive in our 6 berth Vango Quest!

The Black Cat keeps the Weathermaster warm, and I feel safe using it with my child in the tent.  Been using it since she was 3 with no incidents.  (touching wood here).

Thanks for the advice everybody. I have just ordered the parabolic heater so I'll see what it is like when it arrives.
