Hello,

Is anyone aware of the best cobb deal around at the minute, I've spent the usual four or five hours researching on internet, with nothing under £80. THis site has saved me a fortune in the past wonered if it would again?

if you find anything less that £80 you will get a very good bargain, mind you it all depends on what 'extras' you want to get with it. we bought one a month or so ago, and very nearly bought it (new) from ebay, until we checked the 'discount' from here and got the lot for a bit less and a lot less on postage too!

we are enjoying 'discovering' the cobb at the moment and although we decided not to take it with this weekend, we are certainly looking forward to some 'free' heat as the weather cools down over the next few months. along with cooking some scrummy meals too of course

I spent a long time looking for the cheapest price but ended up buying in through this site from the main dealer because he was so helpful and friendly. No hard sell at all.

I can't believe these things cost so much now. I've seen them around in stores on the odd occasion for around £40 ... I think because of them appearing on BBC2's The Hairy Bikers Cookbook this may have influenced pricing?

And to think these were invented as a low cost safe type of cooking device for the poor people in rural areas of South Africa. When I was living there about 4 years ago you could pick up one of these for R300 (+/- £20) ... there's no ways one of them poor people would ever be able to afford that ... not on a minimum salary of R2600 (£178.54) (That was then... not sure what it is now)

At the time I thought it was way too expensive. (I had a quick look at a place selling them in SA ... R540 (+/- £37)

Anyhow, I digress ... You could also try some of the south african shops in the UK but I expect it will be more or less the same price if that's what it's selling for elsewhere. Why do the Brits always get ripped off?

Somthing worth noting, a BBQ in SA is called a braai ... so maybe try searching for Cobb braai and see if that helps any. Or look in your local garden centers to see if they have any stock at the old prices.
