I was given a older cadac by a friend who stopped caravaning due to i'll health but when I used it it took about 40 mins to cook the sausages is this the norm with the newer cadacs? sadly it went back in its bag the bbq came out but with all the rave reviews about them thought I'dd check if it was worth buying a new one if they are quicker for cooking with

I've never looked back since I bought mine, I only use the griddle plate, make sure it is really hot before starting to cook.

Certainly not the norm methinks - make sure the jets are cleaned and that there are no blockages. As trooper says, make sure the plate is hot. Have had my cadac for four months now and would not go back to a conventional bbq.Excellent bit of kit and very versatile.

I've got one of the older ones, and it cooks my sausages in no time. What would happen if your gas cylinder was really low? I know that our two burner grill takes forever to boil a kettle when the gas is low. Maybe that's your problem?

Hi shudawudacuda
If its the jets that are blocked thats good it saves you having to buy a new one , you can buy a cobb instead and have the best of both worlds then ,

It is not normal to take this amount of time, so below is my hit list.
1. Blocked jets
2. Low gas pressure
3. Dodgy regulator (or incorrect one)

Check these and if it is still taking 40 minutes buy a new one.

Steve.

Never tried boiling a kettle on the Cadac, but I've got a pot stand that I bought separately for it (£4.95 from Riversway). I guess it should work OK.

I bought a new cadac carri chef and was very disappointed with the Bbq grill, it took for ever to cook burgers. I had a full gas bottle (904 type) and a new regulator.

The griddle was great for bacon and eggs!

Don't suppose anybody has any ideas??

Andrew

Hi,

We bought a Cadac this year, it was working great until out last trip, the flames were coming out yellow and there was soot everywhere. I think think it might need a good clean. How do you clean the jets out???

Thanks
