I find the kettle boils quicker with butane and it's cheaper, but in winter I switch to propane because butane doesn't gas off as well in colder weather.
This is because butane's boiling point is higher, above (water) freezing point, whereas propane "boils" at well below (water) freezing point.

Use Propane it burns hotter, you get your Tea Faster, Also Higher Freezing Point better for all year round use
I am afraid that the complete opposite is true. Butane burns hotter than Propane, although you are correct about the higher freezing point.
thanks for the opinions, something there to think about, whether I want my tea quicker or not, although i like the point about propane being better in the cold weather, the caravan suppliers dont seem to have a favourite, they say "the choice is upto you"

I believe there is a safety issue to consider here too, not just whether you want your tea quicker! As i understand it, using butane in cold weather (frosty or colder) risks liquid gas passing through the pipes, which when reaching the outlet (i.e. the hob, grill etc) changes state to gaseous form and combusts in a rather excited, out of control manner. I am willing to be corrected on this, but as i said, this was my understanding.
