My 3 way fridge seems to have got a problem
The electonic piezo ignition when pressed only creates a spark now and again.
I think I may have to get to it and clean it.
I am a bit worried in trying to pull out the fridge after taking out the 4 screws in case loads of wire and gas pipes come with it.
The ignition is at the back of the fridge visible from the lowest shelf inside and all I can see is a hole that is about the diameter of a 10p piece.
I have been using an electronic hand held sparking thingie and I hope that I haven't damaged anything. It sstill does light occasionally and still sparks now and then.
Thanks
Brenda

A neighbour of mine had hole cut in the cabinet so that he could light the fridge with a match

Not sure if it applies to your fridge, but I recall having the same problem with our gas cooker.

Anticipating a big repair bill, I got the instructions out.

It turned out that the piezo had an AA battery in a small compartment below the oven door!
New battery, sorted!

See if you can get hold of a set of instructions for your fridge, you never know.

You may find that if you remove the fridge vents on the outside of the van you van get to the back of the fridge easily and clean or change the ignition from there , I did this on a friends van, saved taking the fridge out.

Have checked with the manufacturers and the only way to get at the piezo ignition is to pull out the fridge. This means disconnecting all the relevant pipes and wires. So unfortunately not a DIY job.
So I shall continue manually lighting it until I find a cheap camper fridge repair person.

hello there, it's not a hard job to get the fridge out, I have done loads in the past, the problem you are having is normally due to a faulty switch assuming it's an electronic model with the switch that lights up when sparking. if you undo the screws you should be able to pull the fridge out enough to be able to change it but make sure you get a genuine one, and make a note of where all the wires go, if this dosn't work I would seriously think about getting the fridge serviced it isn't really a diy job. if its just a push button peizo these very rarely go wrong so again I would suggest a service,as it is an indicator that the end of the peizo igniter is probably carboned up and therefore also the burner and jet also dirty, check the flame when you next light it if it is at all yellow it needs immediate attention . regards Mark
