We have had our camping stove for about 4 years now, which replaced a very old stove from my camoing trips when i was a kid with mum and dad. What i have noticed is the stove we now have (its a sun gas) doesn't seem to have half the burn power of the old stove.
So my question is this, are all stoves now like this or is ours just not very powerful, and which stove make should i get for our next one.
Not sure about the power of new stoves however we have a coleman duel fuel once we got the hang of it (took a while) it was the best thing we have ever bought

They're brilliant. I agree about the setting up - it takes a bit of getting used to - but it doesn't half boil a kettle of water quick, You've barely got time to but the coffee in the mug before it is ready!!!

Ive given up on gas, no way I'd ever use it again.
Although I only bought my Coalman Duel fuel this summer, I've used it all over the Scottish islands and the Lakes. The main thing Ive noticed is the power compared to gas, plus the main benefit is it maintains full flame when amost empty. Almost good enough to weld with
Downside is they can flare when cold but this only lasts around 30 seconds.

just out of interest with ehu's so common now does anybody use electric stoves and if not, are there any reasons why
I agree the Coleman duel fuel is a good stove. My kettle is always the first to boil when camping. Takes some getting used to but a little practice makes it second nature and it is cheaper to run than gas if you do a lot of cooking when away.

I dunno the answer to this one, but we recently bought an EHU and by chance when my girlfreind was having a clear out she found a one ring electric stove that she was going to chuck, until I pointed out that we could use it with the EHU next season.

The likes of B&M, Lidl, Woolies etc sometimes do a 2 burner electric stove that is small enough for camping. I may give one a try next year.
the reason i ask is we recently had workmen damage a gas main in our street, so they handed out two ring electric cookers to the residents and they let us keep them, the gas was only off for about two hours so it was quite a result. i havent tried it out on a trip yet but figure it would come in quite handy especially for cooking inside the tent
