It is a small'ish canister gas heater from Coleman (I think there is a review on this site of it). Works very well, especially as there is no naked flame, it is a catalyst heater.

As to "will it keep you warm?" - it depends on how big an area you want to heat? It is not a big heater - which is why I like it, but I use it in a relatively small tent, just to take the autum chill off.

If it is going to get really cold, you may be better with something like a parabolic electric heater.

Hi tacobell40red, you will have to let us know how you get on with your blackcat heater. Due to the recommendations here have put one on this years christmas list for the times we cannot get an EHU when camping.

Question for Big Bunny,

Approximately how long will it run for on one cannister?

Not sure, they quote 75g per hour, so (unless I have got this stupidly wrong) a 500g can should last around 6 hours continous. Apologies, if I have misunderstood the maths.

Practical experience, is that a big coleman canister (as in the picture) covers 3, possibly 4, cold weekends away. That is using it at night to heat the tent up and first thing in the morning, before getting out of the sleeping bag!

As said, I like it because it is relatively small (I am fed up already with how much we have to transport) and there is no naked flame. It is very study on the floor - I sit it in a biscuit tin lid, so that if it does get knocked over accidently it would not melt the groundsheet.

Nicely warms up the Cabanon Pyramide in under 10 minutes.

We had one for our Satellite 12, and now use it in our awning.  Works well.

I got a sassari 6 and it is really good.  Warms a big space really quick, I was quite surprised.  I would recommend one.

I’ve been meaning to get one of these for a while.

Lets hope Father Christmas reads UKCS and sees this message.
