We have the Gelert Athena highback chairs for camping in this country. They also fold up into a bag but when we were shopping for chairs we found that the comfort of the chairs in a bag varied a lot. Ours are wider and deeper in the seat and have a higher back and we find them very comfortable. I can happily sit in them all night. Any other kind of chair takes up car space that we just dont have.
We also have 2 Dukdalf chairs with foot extensions that we take to France for our 2 week hoilday but we dont have the dog in the car then so we can remove the back seats to make space for them.
We had the same problem with our chairs and someone on this site recommended a chair by the name of "keenets" i think they are. They have them in the argos catalogue under the fishing section and i reckon if they use them then they can't be all that bad. Mother-in-law has bought 2 for us for christmas.
Riverman, have a look at the anglers reclining chairs. Expensive initially (around £50 I think), big and a bit cumbersome but very comfortable and will last for years.
The chair I use for camping is the recliner I use for fishing and although it's had a lot of use over the last three years (when I'm not camping I'm very often away fishing for the weekend) it's held up very well and looks as though it will last for another couple of seasons at least.
Most fishing seats are about 12-14 inches (from ground to seat level) but the legs extend (individually, for uneven ground) by about another 8 inches or so...
There are a lot of makes and models available (Fox, Nash, Chub, JRC etc. etc.) from cheap to very expensive. Take a trip to your local 'tackle dealer' and try a few out...
Take it from me having tried dozens of different chairs of all types and sizes over the years you will NOT find anything more comfortable or adjustable than this and the plus side is it doesn't look bad in the garden either!!!
B&Q and Homebase have some goods seats, its a matter of personal choice as to which is best. I always find that abottle of wine or beer will make even the most uncomfortable chair a lttle more tolerable.
HELLO ALL , take a look at LAFUMA we bought a pair last year, they are the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in including our three piece suite, 5mins in the chair you will be asleep. ...........Mark
We have found Lafuma chairs to be the most comfortable the aluminium ones are very light they dont pack up as small as the "umbrella" type chairs but are 100 times more comfy. a bit dearer too but well worth the money. As with the previous post its hard to stay awake once sitting on them,
