Hi Simon999

we have recently got an ERDE 142 with the hard top, very good and very pleased. we got the trailer from halfords, but the hard top and other bits we got from wilstow trailers, who import them from france. www.wilstowtrailers.co.uk  hope the link works. just noticed you are in newmarket, I'm in bury st edmunds, small world. wilstow trailers would you believe are in chedburgh, just south of bury,on the A143. they sell alot of their bits on e bay, which are cheaper than their own web site prices. 01284 852001 is their tel number. i found them very good.although they import the trailers, they wern't as cheap on the main trailer as halfords were at the time, but wilstow did say halfords buy from them in bulk, so can do the odd discount here and there. give them a call, very friendly people. tell them craig reccommended them.

hope this all helps

regards

craig

i have an erde 122 trailer and have just bought the extra sides from wilstow. they are very helpful, and local. They have everything you wll need for the erde trailers. Look on the website and then phone them for price. i got my sides £20 cheaper than website said.

regards

chris

Hi

We just bought a Daxara 158 trailer made by Erde. Bought it complete with the extender sides, ABS Hard top lid, spare wheel, security device and jocket wheel for the sum of £300 from Ebay. Just needed a wheel bearing. Brilliant trailer and an absolute steal.

Daxara and Erde trailers are made by Erde. The Daxara is slightly more expensive but in my opinion the build quality is better. Both Rickit and I have the 158 which is a large 5x3 trailer although with a family of 5 we always filled it. I have since built a plywood raised lid which gives me an extra 12 inch of height on the trailer. It is secured with hasps and locks so I can secure things in the trailer when not in use. I have now had some cross bars made for the lid so that I can fit my roof box on top of the trailer instead of the car, but maintaining the balance of the trailer is important when adding height to the unit. I would suggest that you should buy the largest (within reason) trailer you can afford as you will always fill it.

Hi Nigel16, we have removed the side extenders now and the trailer is still ample to carry all our gear but will keep them just in case.

Make sure you look after your wheel bearings as if they collapse and you can't remove the remainder of the bearing you will have to buy a complete axle assembly. I am going to check the bearings here every winter. Lucky we got our bearing off but I have been told this is not always the case.
