I thought Freeview was digital, if it is then it should not be possible to get a 'snowy' picture, it's either there or it's not. Generally though you would need a fairly good aerial and to be situated in one of the reception areas to receive it.
Check here to see if it's available in your area or campsite location.
We manage to get reception via a set top box and the Status. The picture quality is excellent but depending on the signal you can loose the picture from time to time.
It depends on where you are, on some sites we have had an excellent signal, and got all the channels perfect. On other sites we've not been able to pick up anything.
Nimrodphil, the pic doesnt go snowy it sort of freezes and you can get them funny little squares when the signal is not too good.
Hi Miss OxyDon, that's what I was trying to say, maybe I didn't word it clearly, sorry for any confusion. I think the little blocks are referred to as pixellation.
we got freeview and use it all over the place!! even areas itr says you can get it,... all we use is our status with booster on it works a treat give it ago wot have you to lose!!
------------- one by one
the pixies steal my sanity!!! too many meets 2 mention!!!! Email me if you dare
Depends how close to the transmitter you are - preferably in sight of the mast. The only coverage map I can find is not very encouraging - if you are inside one of the blue circles you should at least get Cbeebies!
we have one of the little ones from, argos and you need a very very strong signal and it also depends on the sensitivity of the tuner in the box - the newer ones are better - i have a 6 year old digital tv card for the pc and short of a 100ft mast you cant get a picture were as the new DVB tv in the bedroom works fine on the mini ariel on some channels
STAYED AT CLENT HILLS CAMP SITE PUT ON FREEVIEW THE BBC WEST FROM THE MENDIP TRANSMITTER 90+MILES CAME GOOD ON A STATUS 530 DIRECTIONAL AERIAL AND PHILLIPS DTR 320 SET TOP BOX
