We are looking to buy a lightweight airer and after viewing many different types of various prices I have come across the Drya Easy Store Airer. Has anyone got one and if so, is it reliable and worth having.
Have been searching the internet for various types of washing airers/dryers and came across this via the ukcampsite web page which gave a review on this product and the company who sells them are via the attached link. Although it gives information on the product it would be great to hear from someone who has actually used this item.
I've got one. It certainly is lightweight and takes up hardly any room but the only problem is that it's.............VERY lightweightMeans that you need to make sure that as you bung your gear on each arm you do shove it on opposite arms at a time or else it topples over. Once equally loaded or fully loaded, mine hasn't toppled....yet.
I got this coz we had one of the origin 'umbrella' type airers as a wedding pressie, (almost 30 years ago), when it won the Ideal Homes Exhibition award for design. It's extremely heavy with 12 steel arms that come out from it but it has probably been the best wedding gift we had for the amount of use it's had over the years. From using it indoors for all kinds of wet stuff before we got either a washing machine or tumble drier and I only had a spin drier, right up to using it as extra space out in the garden when the line's full! Handy if you've only got a couple of wet bits, (specially for swimming gear and towels home or away), and don't wanna be bothering with either shoving up the wirly gig drier thingy or putting out/cleaning your clothes line first.
This easi store is just as useful as my metal one, but more flimsy. Ideal for camping and caravanning though coz it would even go up inside a tent or awning so you still get stuff dry while you're out even on a damp day.
I'd give it a wobbly thumbs up for sure. Can't remember how much our one was but we got it through the ukcs shop, the year before last.
If you click on the product catalog it states the price at £22.50, I was interested, but it seems a bit expensive for me at the moment. Maybe someone who has it can say whether it is worth the money

Er..... sorry but I think that's what I was trying, (in my inept way as per usual way), to say
But, I'll try to expand on my earlier post by saying that it is indeed handy but not the most stable airer in the world, has to be said. Our one has already been used several times over two holidays in our tin tent and also in our back bedroom when the weather was particularly bad and I had nowhere else to dry some non-tumble drier things.
Ok, so don't expect this airer to cope with drying a duvet or heavy sleeping bags but for most of your holiday washing, (cannot believe I of all people are mentioning stuff like this....see signature), it's fine.
We too have one of the original heavy ones and used to use it a lot. Even the heavy ones will topple over if loaded unevenly, so you need to be very careful when using it. Start loading with an arm that is directly over a leg.
Hippy Chick - Yes your report was great, I didn't know if you had paid that much or not. It looks like not much for your money. I do have a larger metel one that I think is for hanging clothes on with hangers, I might just stick to that for now as I would like to see it in the flesh first. If it had been a tenner then I would go for it.
Hi, I use a light aluminium folding clothes airer. It folds flat and travels in the toilet held in place by an elastic strap. When in use I knock a couple of 'L' shaped tent pegs onto each leg and it doesn't fall over even in very strong winds.
Phil.
ps I bought it in San Marino some years ago so if you fancy a ride out you could get one.
Thanks for all the useful replies, I think I will choose between two types I have in mind now. The Drya easy store airer seems too flimsy for the price and use that we will be needing it for.
I use a Hanagawy from Lakeland at £14:99. Very strong but does not fold as small as the Drya. You can hang a sleeping bag over it as it easily takes the weight. It's also stable even if you are only using one hanging arm. I do use coathangers for t- shirts etc as you can get more on. My neighbour also borrows it when she does car boot sales so it has plenty of milage on it without suffering any damage.
