Been looking around for suitable lighting using electric hook-up. But have just seen other messages along the same line. Might try the Aldi inspection light which has been mentioned - sounds suitable. Any other ideas for lights for tents would be welcome? I always take a couple of solar garden lights which are really handy. Leave them outside tent during day and bring them in at night. But we need a bright light for cooking etc though - and it must be waterproof.

Mine are similar to this. Some might say a bit OTT, but like you, I realy like to see what I'm doing when cooking in the dark. Not that it helps with the final results....

There's no switch on these fittings, so I fitted one with a similar IP rating in line on the supply cable.

TT.

Off to Aldi's today to have a look at recommended bargain lighting. Thanks to TT for link for alternative lighting - which looks great but do these come with mains lead and plug?? Thanks also to Gary. Not sure what I want really other than it must be waterproof and have at least a 4 or 5m lead with mains plug - and must be usuable on campsite electrics. Ideally should be able to hook up/attach to inside poles of tent awning. I've had rechargables before but not had much luck. Thanks for your help guys.

Just got back from Aldi's and bought one of the inspection lamps for £4.99. Looks okay. Might not be bright enough for cooking but definitely worth the money. Nice long lead as well.

I use a rechargeable flourescent light purchased from Argos ...... it has two tubes and can be used via mains direct or a socket ........ it's bright enough to illuminate my Hartford tent enough!!

I have a couple of rechargeable lanterns aswell which are bright enough.

i have the rechargeable one same as rover man which is excellent for lighting my frame tent, it runs on the mains and is rechargeable and has a spot light function on it which is very handy I also use a rechargeable one in the bedroom area , which is much better than wasting money on batteries all the time!
