Can anyone recommend a good lightweight but strong chair which will recline and will last.

Thanks SonjaH

We use the cheap fold away type that are canvas and a tubular frame folding into a carry bag. I'm sure Adsa had some big-boy ones (stronger for the larger campers) and also recliners last year all less than £20 and probably less than £10 when they were getting rid of them. Most places sell them, price is just the variable.

We just work on the basis that you throw at least one away every year, but at that price it doesn't matter. In fact we've not yet broken one so we are in credit. Most camp site bin areas seem to have a discarded one anyway.

I think that you should really think very carefully about any chairs that you are thinking of buying as we have recently made a bit of a boo boo of it! We were after very light weight furniture to keep the weight down in the boot of the car, and so chose a nice pair of light weight aluminium framed director type chairs (the showroom version was very comfortable). However, at the campsite we found that although initially comfy, after a couple of hours we were getting decidedly fidgetty sitting in them. They just did not come up to scratch. In future I think we will stick to the tried and tested (and very comfortable) fold out steel framed chairs (in a bag) - nice!!.....

The Dukdalf Blues chairs are excellent and will last forever. They have a lightweight frame and weatherproof fabric, also can recline (and an optional leg-rest is available, to turn into a lounger). Not the cheapest, or most compact, but very comfortable and sturdy.

We bought a couple in Asda last summer, high backed and recline were just under £15 each.

we have found them very comfy for both sitting upright in for eating and reclined for relaxing in.

We have some of these flop chairs. They are very comfortable and well made. We never go away without them. They can comfortably sit 2 adults. Although they do fold up and come in a carry bag, they do take quite a lot of space.

Those flop chairs look great. Who makes them and where can you buy them?

Hi wilkinson family.

I bought them online. Have a look around cos they do vary in price. I paid £70 for 2. I have seen them at Barrons for £25 though. Have a look at these links.

Thank's Martin,

I'll put one of those on my wish list. The large ones looks like the kids could share it. Would make the camping experience a little more comfortable.

Agree with Brummygit - Asda's Big Boy chairs were £9.99 last year.  We bought 2 initially to replace the standard folding chair that everyone seems to have these days.  They are really comfy, seem to be stronger than the average chair and only take up a little more space.  We went back to get some more but they'd sold out so we're hoping that they'll have them again this year so we can replace our remaining chairs with them.

Well i'll certainly take the recommendation of the Asda chair as i need a good strong one, i got the last one from go outdoors, "strong sir, yes sir, you can't go wrong with these" three days it lasted, last i saw of it it was sticking out of a skip legs akimbo, perhaps at 19 stone i may be a tad over the test weight for these infernal beasties that lower me to the ground over two or three days, it's not that i'm fat you understand, i'm just under height, i should be 7 ft 9 "
