It certainly is not a bad idea to take household appliances camping. We take or normal kettle and toasted when we go away although we do also have a lower rated kettle that boils a little quicker. However when you see the "essentials" that we take away for aq family of 5, there is no way we would have room for a microwave. I enjoy coming up with novel ways of cooking with the basic of utensils -it also improves my scouting skills.
We never took a microwave when we had a tent but we have one in the caravan. Surprisingly, we don't use it much. I thought we would use it a lot more than we actually do.
When camping last year I saw somebody with a microwave, george foreman grill, toaster, slow cooker! don't no how they managed to fit it all in their Tent they even had the kitchen sink!
------------- life is like a box of chocolates you never no what your gonna get
I have bought a microwave for our van, got it from Asda only £19.00 a couple of weeks ago bargain, it cooks a treat, tried it out at home over several days, took it to the van on Saturday, ready for our first outing this year, at the end of February Yippeeeee.......
We bought one last year to use in the FC. Fits in the seat locker out of the way when traveling. Very handy especially for heating milk for the boys hot chocolate before bed and breakfast cerial, easier than a saucepan on the hob and a lot faster to wash up the jug than a saucepan.
Just do not use any other electrical appliance at the same time or pop goes the trip.
we bought one last year a combi one that bakes and everything its great and it only cost £69.99 from argos u can cook anything from pies to pizza to roast chicken in it we use it in our caravan and is a godsend when you have small kids
