Has anyone ordered anything from Cabelas, if so, what was the experience like?

I've seen some cracking items, the camp kitchens in particular..

Hi Gareth, we to love the look of the kitchen units but haven't ordered as not to sure on what company are like. I will watch this thread with interest

I ordered a reasonably big order last year including a large metal tripod for our cast iron cooking pod. If I remember correctly the goods came with UPS, which meant I had to pay import duty on them (as they were over £18), but they did arrive about a week after ordering.

Everything was well packed and they let me know when they had posted (not all online shops seem to do this). Only complaint was that at the time I ordered (might have changed now) it wasn't clear what they would ship to the UK and what they wouldn't until you had gotten near the end of the checkout process. The base postage cost was also a little expensive I guess because they used UPS so its worth waiting till you have a big order or see if you can combine it with somebody you knows order.

I bought a Coleman 5 day coolbox from them last Autumn. I would agree with Brian, that it wasn't until you near the payment bit that you discover whether they will ship the item to the UK. I think they won't send really heavy stuff.
I too rec'd the item within 7 days and paid the import duty. This is paid to UPS when they deliver, so work out roughly how much it will be and keep some change handy as I had to raid they kids money boxes because the driver didn't have change of £10.
I would recommend Cabelas due to their product range and cheap prices. Couldn't fault the service at all.
I remember that someone on here bought a fantastic looking camp kitchen from them last summer, so you could do a search for it on here.

i too have ordered stuff from this company, would say a very good servive everything went fine, good range of gear!

Have ordered from them four times now (including one of their camp kitchens). Been very happy with the service and quality of goods.

I ordered the stove top shower, no problems it took about 3 days to get from USA to East Midlands airport then about another 4 days from there to Leicester (???) The order was about $100 dollars and I had to pay about £8 import tax.

I've not used Cabelas but have used www.basspro.com who are similar.

If you go through their system and place your order, there is a note box, I put "please confirm shipping cost" in there and they have always emailed me to confirm the shipping. I have then "tweaked" my orders (the shipping on the cast iron dutch pot was a bit high!) and they amend it and ship.

I've had to pay import duty on each order I've had but the prices and the items meant it was still worthwhile.

I also ordered the camp kitchen from them. Arrived in 7 days and well packed. Great piece of equipment. Great service!
