Bought one of these yesterday, mainly for the wifes benefit for camping when its cold. It will come in handy for our Dent meet next month. Does anyone else use one ???
If you go through search, there`s a lot of discussion on electric blankets in tents.Bottom line is that unless they`re the rare camping variety ones they`re not rated for outdoor use or in damp conditions. Yes, your EHU has an RCD (I hope) but .......not recommended. Get thermal jammies, good insulation between you and the airbed, a four season sleeping bag and a hot water bottle instead.
I don't think tthat I would fancy the idea of 230vAC underneath me with all the damp that's about in tents.
I have tried the "search" feature but it doesn't seem to want to work for me. There are some electric blankets that work on a rechargable battery pack: Does anyone know who does them?
Yes we camped in January last year with ours and they are fabulous...actually got TOO hot...with snow on tent roof :-)

"Those are hares, not silly old rabbits. Lovely March hares!"
We have used 'normal' electric blankets in our frame tent. We had an RCD, but I was still a bit concerned. It was great! I used to put blankets on 30 mins before going to bed, and left them on all night. It was lovely and warm, and we had not problems at all.
Hope this helps

The new Towsure catalogue has a 12v blanket in it (£40 I think). 4A current draw would be OK to take the chill off for an hour or so before retiring for the night.
hello there we have used an all night electric blanket for 3 years now, never had any problems, it warms the bed up lovely, and can have it on low all night if need be, it makes such a difference to be warm and cosy instead of having bad knees and back through the cold!!
------------- i dont know where i am going but i am on my way!!
hmm something not quite right there, i clicked the link and got a webcam! oh well not to worry we bought an electric blanket towards the end of last year. so far it has remained in its packaging as it hasn't been cold enough to use it - yet anyway

Yep, Morphy Richards do washable ones - just unplug the controls and chuck it in the washing machine. Also, there are 12V ones - seen some labeled Comfy Cruise, and no doubt plenty of others. Things have moved on a lot in the past century!
