Hi Haarstadt,

I would also have used much thicker ply had I been using roof bars. I wanted to fit some, to transport my Avon Inflatable dinghy already inflated on top, but I decided that I would then be tempted to load inside the dinghy as well

Knowing me, I'll probably end up with about six different sets of extensions for various jobs     ( I already have two different sets)  I intend to get a six by four trailer next year funds allowing, and then the roof bars will get fitted. Thing is, with a six by four trailer, I probably wont want any extra space, will I ???

With regard to pictures, I can do almost anything with wood, but modern technology eludes me, so NO pictures.

Hey, if I can do it....

Host your pictures at http://imageshack.us/ - it's free and they even generate forum code for you. It doesn't get much easier than that!

(Am I allowed to promote other sites on here? If not - sorry!)

I can do all sorts with wood too. Often it doesn't resemble anything like what I set out to make but the enjoyment is just great! And I never have a shortage of kindling for getting the barbie going!

We've just made some extension sides for our Erde 102 using 9mm marine ply. It was a bit of a rush job, but very simple to do and my hubby isn't big on DIY, the only thing is they fit inside so without an extended cover we run the risk of rain getting in between them and the trailer sides. So for now we're using a square tarp and some extra elastics under the original cover and later on will get a deeper cover. Some pics here, but none with the extra tarp as we only got that today.

My extension is a similar design (18mm tongue & groove instead - 15kg!) but it sits on top of the trailer sides.  I've used some draught excluder round the bottom of the new top to act as a seal to the body of the trailer but haven't tested it in anger yet!

Mine is same as mk9139 but strurdier as I carry logs in it. (not quite so profeshnul looking eith I am afraid.) I also put some eyes around it for tie downs. Cost £0 as the timber was scrap.

NIce pics mkn9139, I won't bother with my pics now cos mine is very similar (although not quite as neat looking!) . My extensions sit on the top of the trailer too, but it does need some inserts inside like yours for stability.

If you want a trailer cover made to measure I can recommend this chap on eBay: lincstrailercovers. I have no association with him or his business I was just impressed with the cover he made for me. Very reasonably priced too. This is one of his current postings on eBay: 270609338837.

Be aware the listing is for a sample of the cloth he uses, you need to send him the measurements of the cover you want and he quotes you a price back for the actual cover. He has had some neg feedback from people who geuinely thought they would get a tailor made cover for 99p because they didn't read the listing! Madness.
