Has anybody bought one of these from Makro.

I got one but dont get a picture.  All I get on the front screen is

Signal Intesity                  36%

Signal Quanlity                11%

It says in the manual that the first one shows connection quality between antenna to the receiver.

The second is as it says but has to reach 60% before an image will appear.

I have messed about with the dish turning this way and that, tilting it up and down but dont seem to get a better signal % rating.

Any help would be appreciated (except fot taking it back to Makro, as Iv already thought of that.)

Cheers !!!

Firstly those figs show its operational secondly you have to move the dish a bit at a time. If its same as mine you should have a bit of plastic with compas + spirit level line arrow on this with nearest city to you then line everything up when attached to disc also when pressing info button you get the signal strengths up then press button marked no 1 this should bring up an audio whistle / hum low level hum means not lined up the higher the pitch the more lined up you are. finally keep hand or arm away from dish only move it from the edge. It is very easy once you have the knack

Sounds exactly like I had when trying to tune to astra 2 but picking up astra 1. If, as romany says you have a plastic compass with the city marked on it, I find that in South Wales lining it up with a German city is more accurate(Don't remember which one it was), so I suspect the compass is not very accurate. Astra 1 and 2 are both very close. Try moving the dish until the signal gets weaker then a little more to see if it gets stronger (on another satellite) if not try going the other way. It is possible to get astra 1 and 2 if the dish is large enough without moving the dish. I find 11% signal quality even with the dish pointing at a wall is the lowest I can get. I think the ones from Maplin, Lidl and Aldi are the same. Receiver varies between 2 models, both made by Comag.

Just looked at your location. Is the dish big enough for Scotland?

This site is very useful for mobile satelite reception. have a look through it and see is it's any help. Two important thing to remember about most satellite dishes are that you have to make sure the actual receiver bit on the dish is the correct way round and secondly that most dishes are ofset, which means the rim of the dish will be somewhere near vertical when it's pointed at the correct elevation.
Good luck
